Australia’s premier collective of female-identifying artists, Women of Soul is a live show, songwriting team and recording collaboration.

In 2024 their LP ‘Feel Good’ (House of Valerie Joan) was nominated for the Australian Music Prize and the AIR award for Best Soul album. The LP featured contributions from more than 35 creatives, including Kylie Auldist, Stella Angelico, Thndo, Monique diMattina, Vanessa Perica, Kathleen Halloran, Tamara Murphy and many more. With Chelsea Wilson as Executive Producer and Anna Laverty as Producer and Engineer, the album was 100% composed, recorded, performed and produced by an all-female team, a first in the Australian music industry. 

 

Women of Soul performance highlights include Elisabeth Murdoch Hall - Melbourne Recital Centre, Byron Bay Bluesfest, The Malthouse Theatre, NIDA Sydney, Federation Square, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Perth Fringe World, and a special live broadcast from the MPavillion for Australian Music Week on ABC Radio. 

Current vocalists in the WOS touring show include the multi-award winning Fem Belling, Rita Satch, Stella Angelico, Chelsea Wilson, Carla Troiano, Lisa Faithful, JoysSoulMusic, Carmen Hendricks and Alzzy. Women of Soul instrumentalists feature Holly Brick on bass, Emmy Rae Shaw on drums,  Anastasia Comarin on guitar, Mina Yu on keyboards, Ash Ballat on trumpet and Cheryl Durongpisitkul on saxophone.

Since 2011 WOS have presented artists such as Mo’Ju (VIC), Nkechi Anele (Saskwatch) (VIC), Thndo (VIC), Odette Mercy (WA), Clairy Browne (VIC), Randa and the Soul Kingdom (WA), Tara Lynch (The Transatlantics) (SA), Milan Ring (NSW) and many more. The collective have been featured on ABC Radio National, Mi-Soul London, Daily Telegraph, Frankie Magazine, TODAY Channel 9, PBS 106.7FM, RRR 102.7FM, and were guest hosts on triple J’s Roots ‘N’ All program.
